Observation. Licensing observed the facility was not operating with the terms and conditions of their Licence and that an unlicensed summer camp was being conducted in the licensed child care space.
Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility operates in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care.

Observation. Staff stated they were unable to access records as they were in a locked cabinet.

Observation. Licensing observed medication stored on site and observed an expired Epi-Pen, unknown to staff. Upon reviewing care plan, there was no diagnosis made by a health care professional and an unclear description as to when or how the Epi-Pen should be administered.

Observation. Licensing audited five of 26 staff files; of which two were missing criminal record checks under CRRA. RCMP checks were completed and on file.
Corrective action. Ensure a person is not employed in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained a criminal record check for the person.
