Observation. Licensing audited three staff files. One file was missing character reference checks in respect of the person.
Corrective action. Ensure staff files have character references. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3010 - CCLR 19(1)(b) - A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. Licensing tested two sinks in room 189 (Birch) where children access hot water and the temperature was 52 ° Celsius. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of children in care and must be corrected immediately. The Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) located in the Birch room (189) is not operating in the summer. It will be in operation for September. Licensing notified the staff that the water temperature will need to meet compliance prior to reopening in September 2021. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.
Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to water greater than 49 degrees Celsius. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
