    Heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius. [CCLR Sec. 47]

    Observation. Licensing observed water from both faucets to be measuring above 49 degrees. Staff inform that they rarely use all hot water, and are always with the children assisting as they are al infants. A work order for this to be adjusted was submitted prior to the report being written.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. Licensing observed majority of the outdoor play yard to be covered in fallen leaves. Rain and weathering has led the leaves to decompose and is resulting in slippery surfaces outside of the covered patio. A work order has been submitted prior to the report being written.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. - Licensing observed a latch lock in the outdoor play area to be broken. This item is no longer in good repair. Manager informs that a work order has been submitted, and awaiting maintenance. There is a second lock on the other side of the gate that is properly engaged. - The wooden gate at the front entrance is difficult to open, requiring quite some force to pull open, appearing stuck. - Two area carpets in the main activity area are observed to be stained and worn due to wear and tear over time. Small pieces are coming apart in several areas which can be a risk when ingested by the young children in care. The carpets show dark stains in rings that has seeped through the underside. These items are no longer easy to clean for babies in constant close contact daily. Manager informs that the carpets are deep cleaned occasionally. A discussion was had in regards to the use of these areas by the specific age group in care, and what is appropriate in terms of cleaning to effectively prevent potential outbreaks and maintain clean equipment for children who are primarily on hands and feet on the floor all day.

    Observation. Licensing observed the wooden surfaces of the outdoor play area including the patio deck to be slippery due to recent rain and algae growth. This item originally found not in compliance in January of 2024 and resolved by power washing the surfaces. A conversation was had with the Manager in regards to upkeep and maintaining the surface to be not slip.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: * The washing machine is leaking, and a towel is placed on the floor soaking water. Manager informed that the washing machine has been showing signs of leaking for 2-3 weeks, and is awaiting repair. Currently, the facility uses this machine early in the morning to mitigate pooling of water throughout the rest of the day. This item is no longer in good repair. * Left side of the front gate is unstable. The wooden plank nailed to the gate and wooden edge of the garden bed is causing the edge to be lifted out of the ground when the fence/gate is moved or being used. This item is no longer in good repair.

    Observation. *The fence panel at the first gate was observed to be wobbly and loose to the touch. *It was raining during today's visit and the gutters were observed to be overfull and dropping water and debris onto the ground below.

    Observation. *Licensing observed cords from an air purifier accessible in an area where a child was napping. This poses a risk of entanglement. *Licensing observed wooden rings attached to a fence accessible in the outdoor play area. This poses a risk of entanglement. *Licensing observed wooden stumps pushed up against a fence in the outdoor play area. This poses a risk to safety and supervision as children may use the wooden stumps to climb over the fence. *Licensing observed an open pipe in the ground in the outdoor play area. The opening to the pipe measured four inches wide. This poses a risk of entrapment. *Licensing observed foam tiles that were dirty and covered in mold in the outdoor play area. The foam tiles are not in good repair. *Licensing observed one play wagon filled with mildewed wood, a plastic cover on top of the wagon covered in mold, an additional play wagon upside down with standing water, a large fallen tree branch, and a large stack of rotted wooden planks covered in leaves and mud located in a corner against the outer fence.

    Observation. *Licensing observed a fridge thermometer reading 9°C. The thermometer was located in the door of the fridge. Licensing recommends moving the thermometer to the back of the fridge in order to get a proper temperature reading. *Licensing observed two mats stacked on top of a child's sleeping mat. Licensing was informed that the mat had not yet been used that day for sleep. A discussion was had about the separation of the sleeping mats and ensuring children's sleeping mats are kept separate to ensure proper hygiene.
