Facility has transitioned into an electronic system for children's records, which can sometimes be missing information that is available in the main files at the office. Licensing recommends transferring all required information from the main files at the head office, to the files accessed by Educators at the facility in order to provide consistency.

Upon agreeing to administer medications, a competent employee is available at all times to administer and document administration of the medications. [CCLR Sec. 53(3)]
Observation. *A bottle of children's Benadryl labelled with a child's name was observed on the children's washroom window sill. No additional information regarding dosage or parental consent was provided or observed.

A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].
Observation. *The sleeping mats are stored in slots, however Licensing observed the bedding creeping out and coming into contact with other children's bedding. This poses the possibility of cross-contamination of germs. *The office door was unsecured allowing easy access to staff personal belongings and various loose cords. *The blind chains in both nap rooms are in high loops, however they are not secured to the wall and there are climbable furniture and window ledges that make these accessible to children. *Only disinfectant was observed at the diapering station.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. *Licensing observed a low bench located outside the children's washroom that has peeling veneer on the front. This item is no longer easy to clean.

The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]
Observation. *Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area: *2 of the 3 wooden benches have broken or splitting seat panels. *Metal muffin tins and pans attached to a wooden frame are rusty. *A broken pottery planter was observed near the entrance gate.

Observation. *2 wooden a-frames are placed on cement areas of the playground. One of the a-frames is in the direct vicinity of a planter pot and stumps directly in the fall zone.

Observation. *4 care plans were observed however it was noted that the location of life saving medications indicated on one care plan was not actually where the medication was to be found. *Symptoms requiring administration of an epi-pen were not indicated on a care plan.

Observation. *CCFL observed both doors to the storage room to be unsecured. The door in the nap room is a pocket door and is a possible pinch hazard. Both doors give free access to the storage room which contains tipping hazards and electrical/communication equipment.
