- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following items were accessible to children: 1) Toilet bowl cleaner under washroom sink 2) Unlocked kitchen cabinet with cleaning supplies Upon notifying the manager, the toilet bowl cleaner was moved and stored in the locked kitchen cabinet.
Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous items and substances are not accessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. 3/5 staff missing documentation that references were verified (2 of the staff each had 1 reference documentation on file).
Corrective action. Please ensure staff files are complete with all required information.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. 2/5 staff missing evidence of immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): All 5 staff missing ECE registry validation. By the end of the inspection, the Manager had printed out and filed validations for all staff.
