Observation. Staff member used inappropriate behavioural guidance with a child when she attempted to grab the child who was running and then swiftly moved him from one area to another.
Corrective action. Licensee must ensure that behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of the child who is receiving the guidance.

Observation. One under 36 months program did not have record of last months fire drill.
Corrective action. Please ensure that staff keep record of the fire drills.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Two care plans were not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. The parents reviewed and signed the care plans on May 14th.
19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 staff files and the immunization status was not obtained for one employee.
Corrective action. The Manager said that she will obtain a record of the staff's immunization upon return.

Observation. A child's medication expired in 2022. A staff advised that the medication was recently provided.
Corrective action. Please ensure non-expired medications are on-site.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The criminal record check clearance letter for one staff was not site specific.
Corrective action. During the inspection an application was submitted to share the results with the facility.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In one infant and toddler classroom; fire drill was conducted in April 2023 but had not been recorded. During inspection staff recorded the date for April fire drill practice.
Corrective action. Please ensure that fire and emergency drills are documented.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Fire extinguisher in one of the Infant and toddler classroom was not serviced since 25 January 2023. Licensing was informed that fire extinguishers of all the other classrooms were recently serviced and this one seem to have been missed.
Corrective action. Please ensure that equipment used to respond to a fire emergency is serviced according to the service tag.

Observation. Medication required in a child's care plan was not available.
Corrective action. Please ensure medications named in a child’s care plan is available while child is in care.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Immunization status was not obtained for two staff. This was corrected during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff records are complete upon start of employment.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection Licensing observed the following : -A recycling bin with recyclable materials was kept on top of a children's toilet in one infant and toddler classroom, and a two-step collapsed stepping stool was stored alongside it. - In another infant and toddler classroom a basket with children's clothing was stored on the bathroom floor in close proximity to the children toilet. Manager removed all these items during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided for the children at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Review of today's attendance record in the infant and toddler program had missing arrival time for 1 child. All staff were aware that the child was present but had not entered it on the attendance record. Staff entered child's arrival time during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children's attendance records demonstrate time of arrival and departure.
