  • A licensee must (a) ensure that behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of the child who is receiving the guidance.

    Observation. A staff used inappropriate guidance with children in care when she tapped a child's face to get their attention, made inappropriate comments to children, restrained a child in a chair and picked a child up by her clothing.

    Corrective action. This staff member no longer works at the facility. No further action is required.

    Observation. Staff to children ratios were not being maintained on April 2 and April 3, 2024.

    Corrective action. The Manager said that she will correct the staffing schedule.

    Observation. Changes to the application occurred prior to notifying the medical health officer.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection there was a large sign, with metal frame leaning against the playground wall that posed a fall hazard should it fall over.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all time the children are in care.

    Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age). Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Mixing of groups longer than 30 minutes (at the beginning and/or end of the day).

    Corrective action. Please sure groups are not being mixed unless it is as described in section 34(4)(a) of the regulations.
