• A licensee must (a) ensure that behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of the child who is receiving the guidance.

  Observation. A staff used inappropriate guidance with children in care when she tapped a child's face to get their attention, made inappropriate comments to children, restrained a child in a chair and picked a child up by her clothing.

  Corrective action. This staff member no longer works at the facility. No further action is required.

  Observation. Licensing observed one epi-pen was expired. One child who requires an epi-pen did not have one on site.

  Observation. Staff to children ratios were not being maintained on April 2 and April 3, 2024.

  Corrective action. The Manager said that she will correct the staffing schedule.

• In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (c) produce records, on demand, to the medical health officer.

  Observation. Staff files could not be produced. Staff did not know where the files were stored in the facility.

  Corrective action. The Manager said that she will show staff where the files are kept.

• Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.

  Observation. Changes to the application occurred prior to notifying the medical health officer.

  Corrective action. The Manager said that meals provided will be ordered from a restaurant and if any additional changes are made, she will inform Licensing first.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Upon inspection there was a large sign, with metal frame leaning against the playground wall that posed a fall hazard should it fall over.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all time the children are in care.

  Observation. Upon inspection 2 staff did not have certificate validations on file at the facility.

  Corrective action. Please ensure staff files are complete.

  Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age). Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Mixing of groups longer than 30 minutes (at the beginning and/or end of the day).

  Corrective action. Please sure groups are not being mixed unless it is as described in section 34(4)(a) of the regulations.
