    Observation. Arrival time was not recorded for one child in care.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that staff sign in children immediately upon arrival.

  • A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.

    Observation. Licensee did not notify Licensing within 24 hours that a child was involved in or may have been involved in a reportable incident as described in Schedule H as required.

    Corrective action. The manager and/or staff will report reportable incidents to Licensing within 24 hours as required by the legislation.

    Observation. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed four staff files, one did not contain immunization records.

    Corrective action. Obtain immunization records.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. The following was observed outside in the play yard: -black underlay tarp is coming through the wood chips and presenting a tripping hazard -wood chips appear sparse in some areas on the playground, such as under the climber

    Corrective action. Please ensure sufficient wood chips for resilient ground covering under the climber and cover black underlay tarp coming through. The Manager stated that workmen will be coming on Monday as they are aware of this area

  • LICENSING

    A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

    Observation. There are two staff that work regularly in the facility who's certificates are not displayed in the facility.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that any staff that have a certificate issued by the ECE Registry displays that certificate in the facility.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. A total of 5 staff files were reviewed. One staff had an expired criminal record check, one staff did not have one and one staff had an RCMP check which is not the correct one.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff that work with the children have a valid and appropriate cleared criminal record check prior to working with the children.
