  Observation. A staff used inappropriate guidance by putting children in a timeout to address their behaviour.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that staff use appropriate behavioural guidance strategies with children.

  Observation. A staff was working in the School Age program for one week without having a Responsible Adult certificate.

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Children's care plans were not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.

  Corrective action. The Manager will address the contravention.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one staff.

  Corrective action. The Manager will obtain the staff's immunization status.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Staff ECE and ECEA certificates were not validated by the system maintained by the Registry. The Manager said that she was unaware of this requirement. Licensing will provide the link to validate the certificates.

  Corrective action. The Manager will validate the certificates, print out the results and keep in each staff's file.

  Corrective action. Please ensure any staff who holds a certificate issued under Division 2 of the CCLR has their certificate verified by the system maintained by the ECE Registry.
