  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. The following were accessible to children indoors: wet wipes on the change table in a hallway. The following were accessible to children in the yard: garbage, a bag of dirty diapers, a garbage can with standing water in it.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure all hazardous items are removed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

    Observation. An area of the yard containing yard debris is accessible to the children.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure children do not have access to this area of the yard or remove the items are removed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following were observed: rust on the baseboard heater in the bathroom, excessive dust on the extractor fan in the bathroom, excessive dust behind the bathroom door, an orange chair needs cleaning, a rug in the play room is starting to curl, foam around window ledges is peeling way, the stove top is in need of cleaning, the kitchen window ledge is in need of cleaning.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that all areas of the facility are clean and do not need repairing.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. The fire extinguisher has not been serviced in the past twelve months and there are not sufficient emergency supplies for seven children for up to 72 hours.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced and a current inspection decal is available and will also make sure there are enough emergency supplies for seven children for up to 72 hours.

    Observation. The time when children are taken to school and the time children return from school is not being recorded.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure accurate arrival and departure times are kept.
