- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following were observed during inspection today; Alexa device placed on the window at over 3 feet height. It was plugged and cord was accessible to children. An unsecured fire extinguisher was also place on the same window sill that was posing a hard of injury if tipped over. A pair of adult scissors accessible to children on the sink in the classroom. Plastic bags and cleaning supplies including bleach was accessible to children in the children's washroom
Corrective action. Please ensure to provide a safe and healthy environment to all children in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. Water temperature accessible to children in the washroom was over 49 degree Celsius .
Corrective action. Licensee turned off the hot water supply from udder the sink connection. Licensing discussed the need of warm water for children and staff to clean and sanitize. Children may not feel comfortable washroom hands with fully cold water.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following were observed during today's inspection; Fence gate for outdoor play area is not closing. Towel hanging rod in the washroom is broken and hanging on he wall.
Corrective action. Please ensure that facility is clean and in good repair.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. ECE staff working at the time of today's inspection did not have her ECE certificate posted in the facility.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff have their certificate prominently posted in the facility.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. The Licensee enrolled a child in the program that was 28 months old at start time that was a violation of Schedule E of the regulation.
Corrective action. LO discussed the group size and ages of the Licensed service type.
14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Emergency supplies under the washroom sink, however, there are no system to for staff to evacuate the supplies with the group of children.
Corrective action. Please ensure that there are adequate systems in place to evacuate children with the supples.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Review of 7 children files observed 6 children were missing medical practitioner's name and/or phone number and 3 children were missing emergency contact name and contact.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all children files are complete.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Review of 7 children files observed 6 children were missing medical insurance plan on file.

19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. There are two ECE certified staff employed. None of the staff has verification of their ECE certificate on file.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff files are complete.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees, including the manager.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff files are complete.
