- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. A mat on a ramp in the playroom is curling posing a tripping hazard. The wall and baseboards underneath the hand dryer in the boys bathroom need cleaning.
Corrective action. The manager said she will make sure the curling areas of the mat are repaired and that the boys bathroom is cleaned.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Perishable foods are not being stored between 0-4c.
Corrective action. The manager said she will ensure all perishable foods are stored in the fridge.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. There are not enough emergency supplies for all children for up to 72 hours. This is repeat noncompliance.
Corrective action. The manager said she will make suer there are enough emergency supplies for all children for 72 hours.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.
Observation. A copy of the screen time and active play policies were not available. The manager was unsure if the facility has these policies.
Corrective action. The manager said she will make sure the facility has all of the required policies.
13060 - CCLR s.56(1)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. Although the manager was able to describe a child's extra support needs, a care plan was not available for a this child
Corrective action. The manager said she will ensure a care plan is available for all children who require extra support.
19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.
Observation. No written record is available for a child with specific feeding needs.
Corrective action. The manger will ensure a written plan is available for this child.
19140 - CCLR s.57(2)(h)(i) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. Four staff files were reviewed. ECE certificates for two staff had not been validated.
Corrective action. The manager said she will ensure all ECE certificates are validated through the ECE Registry.
12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Four staff files were reviewed. A site specific criminal record check was not available for one staff.
Corrective action. The manager said she will ensure site specific criminal records are available for all staff.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Four staff files were reviewed. Immunization status was not obtained for one staff.
Corrective action. The manager said she will ensure immunization status is available for all staff.

Corrective action. The manager will ensure each child has food and water for 72 hours and that items such as a radio and flashlight are in the emergency kit.

Observation. Insufficient food supplies in emergency kits. The Manager explained that they have ordered water supplies and it is in the progress of being shipped. Licensing had a discussion about ways to enhance food supplies to ensure sufficient supplies.
