- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. The facility has run out of paper towel for hand drying in the children's washroom and the children are currently using a single towel for hand drying purposes. Licensing discussed the importance of single use towels for hand drying. The facility uses a bleach/water solution for disinfecting purposes. The solution has turned cloudy and thick. Licensing discussed the importance of regular mixing.
Corrective action. The Licensee stated that power towels would be purchased and regular mixing of the bleach/water solution would be implemented immediately.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. There are no prepared emergency supplies in the event of an emergency.
Corrective action. The Manager stated that she will prepare an emergency kit.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation. There were two children's files available for review. Both files did not contain the children's start date, immunization status or photos of the children. There were two children in care at today's inspection. Neither of these children were signed in on today's attendance document. The Manager stated that attendance is completed at the end of the day.
Corrective action. The Manager stated that she will update the registration forms to include missing information required and obtain this information for the children currently enrolled. She will also document attendance throughout the day as children arrive and depart effective immediately.
19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. A fire drill has not been conducted since April.
Corrective action. The Manager stated that a fire drill would be conducted.
