- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area; - a plastic basketball hoop broken - the wooden play house paint has chipped - the wooden play kitchen has chipped paint and laminate along the side of the counter has ripped off
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - one wooden panel, of the outdoor fence that has broken in the middle - a plastic slide, in the outdoor play area, cracked on the top of the slide - the outdoor toys and equipment are dirty with grime, dirt and mold on them - the cloth on two of the indoor lounge chairs are ripped from the velcro and the velcro has accumulated dirt on it - a plastic container cover is cracked in the middle - the outdoor sand/water tables and boxes have no covers on them
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - two windows in the main play area were fully open and had screens on them. The windows are at the children's level and potential for a child to easily push the screen out, fall out the window and injure themselves - Fridge temperature measured at 6 degrees Celsius. Provided education that the fridge temperature should be between 0-4 degrees Celsius. - several carpets inside the facility that are curling at the ends. Potential tripping hazard. - a small plastic pool and sand/water box with standing water in it. The sand/water box had larvas in the water. - tall fan in one of the play rooms
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children in care; Outdoors: - adult shovel and rake hanging on the side - unlocked shed with a big open bag of charcoal, several wood board pieces with splintered wood, and crowbar - nails sticking out of the wood fence in several areas - thorn bushes in a couple different areas - two metal car parts hanging on hooks against the facility wall Indoors: - an unlocked bathroom cupboard with chemical cleaning solution in it.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon a random review of two children's records, Licensing observed that emergency contact information was not obtained.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon a random review of two children's records, Licensing observed that medical insurance plan number was not obtained for one child.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. Licensing was unable to review the facility's minor incident log book as the Licensee was unable to locate the book. Licensing had a discussion on the importance of having and maintaining a minor incident log book.

Observation. Licensing observed the following; - Two tall fans that are not secured. Potential to fall on a child and injure them. - No covered bin for soiled diapers in the bathroom.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing, by the Licensee, on how this contravention will be addressed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed a cleaning powder bottle and some feminine hygiene products in an unlocked bathroom cupboard.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing, by the Licensee, on how this contravention will be addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - Three children sat down to have their morning snack but did not wash their hands. The Licensee said that they always wash their hands. - Children's mats stored on top of one another and the bedding are all touching one another. Licensing discussed cross contamination and spreading of germs.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing, by the Licensee, on how this contravention will be addressed.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation. Licensing was unable to review one child in cares record as the child's record had not been completed by the parents and available.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing, by the Licensee, on how this contravention will be addressed.
