• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. The name of the manager is not posted in the facility.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure her name is posted in a place where all families can see it.

• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

  Observation. There is no written permission to administer medication for two children and apply cream for one child.

  Corrective action. The manager will obtain written permission from the families to administer the medications and the cream.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (g) any notification of a parent, emergency contact or medical health officer made under section 55 [notification of illness or injury].

  Observation. Files for nine children were reviewed. Contact information for an emergency contact was not available in two files.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure that contact information for an emergency contact person is available for all children.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Certificates for seven staff have not been validated through the ECE Registry.

  Corrective action. The manager will verify all staff certificates and keep proof of verification.
