• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.

  Observation. During inspection Licensing observed there was no fire drill system posted in the care programs.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she takes full responsibility as there were changes to the system after being licensed and she has not updated the information. The Manager will take action to correct this.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Review of attendance records for the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) noted there were multiple days where there were no departure times recorded. The staff for that program said her shift is over prior to children leaving the facility and departure times are not always recorded by the 2nd staff, she said she looks at the Brightwheel app and completes the attendance records, however, there were multiple entries missing.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she will ensure attendance records are updated and corrected.

• STAFFING

  Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age).

  Observation. During inspection Licensing observed the staffing schedule which includes 1 staff starting at 7:30 am and the 2nd staff starting at 9:00 am, as a result both groups are mixed for approximately 1.5 hours at the beginning and end of the day, leaving the facility's staff to child ratios out of compliance.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she misunderstood the legislation and will adjust the staffing schedule accordingly.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

  Observation. Fire drills have not been practised and documented in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program which have been in operation since March 2025. Fire drills have not been practised and documented in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) program for the months of: February, March, April, May, June and September.

  Corrective action. Licensing Officer discussed this with the Manager who said she will ensure fire drills are practised and documented.

• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

  A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

  Observation. There were no single use towels available for children and staff to dry hands, the staff said they use wipes instead.

  Corrective action. Please ensure single use towels are available for staff and children for drying hands.

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

  Observation. During inspection Licensing noted the Community Care Facility License and the Manager's name was not posted.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to display in a prominent place the Community Care Facility License and the Manager's name.
