- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Corners of two mats are curling posing a tripping hazard.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will tape down the curling corners of the mats.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Cleaning products were accessible to children in the bathroom and the kitchen. A cord from a surveillance camera was accessible to children in the kitchen.
Corrective action. The cleaning products were made inaccessible to children during this inspection and the Licensee Contact will ensure children do not have access to the camera cords.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Staff certificates were not posted for any staff.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will post all staff certificates.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. The facility license and the name of the manager are not posted in the facility.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will post the facility licence and the name of the manager.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - MEDICATION
A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,
Observation. Tylenol is being administered to a child without specific instructions from the parents when to administered the medication.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact said she will stop giving Tylenol to the child.
16080 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. No care plan was available for two children requiring extra support.The Licensee Contact was unsure of what she would need to do if the children had a reaction to certain foods. .
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will ensure that there are care plans for the two children who require extra support.
19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Files for five children were reviewed. A care card number was not available for one child.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contract will ensure a care card number is available for all children.
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (b) to release a child to someone other than the parent.
Observation. Files for five children were reviewed. Contact information for an emergency contact was not available
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will ensure that an emergency contact is available for all children.
19200 - CCLR s.57(3)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Evidence of references being checked was not available for two staff.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will ensure references are checked for all staff.
12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Criminal record checks were not available for two staff.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will ensure a criminal record check is available for all staff.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation. A resume was not available for one staff.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will ensure a resume is available for all staff.
12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
Observation. A copy of an ITE certificate was not available for one staff.
Corrective action. The Licensee Contact will ensure a copy of all staff certificates is available at the facility.
