    A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

    Observation. Garbage bin containing soiled diapers had no lid.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensee said there were emergency supplies, but she recently removed them from the facility.

    Corrective action. Licensee will bring the emegrency supplies back to the facility and ensure sufficient supplies.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Licensing observed that the fire drills and emergency drills were not recorded from October 2023 to October 2024. The licensee said they were practiced but she forgot to write them.

    Corrective action. Ensure that there are current records of practicing emergency fire and evacuation drills.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed there are no emergency kit supplies available to children/staff in case of an emergency. The licensee said she was not aware she needed these supplies.

    Corrective action. Please ensure there are emergency supplies available for each person, enough for 72 hours in case of an emergency.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed 4 children's files and 2 files did not have an emergency contact.

    Observation. Licensing observed there is no incident log book to review. The licensee said she doesn't have one and hasn't documented before but will get a book to log minor accidents, illnesses or unexpected events moving forward.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following was observed outside: -gate on the side of the house in disrepair -piece of wood from awning over the tree is hanging off -space under one part of the fence between bottom of fence and wood ties -maintain grass cutting The following was observed inside: -in nap room, outlet for cable and phone hook up have cords coming from them. Licensee explained no power to the cords and will remove them

    Corrective action. Please ensure safe environment for children.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed outside: -standing water on some furniture and equipment that is used by children The following was observed inside: -in the room that is used for nap, there is visible black mold in one corner of the ceiling and on the wall. It also appears faintly along the top of the window area across to the other side of the room

    Corrective action. Please remove all standing water daily if present. Please ensure a safe and appropriate method to remove all black mold from the room. A professional may be needed to determine the best course of action. In the meantime, please do not allow children to use that room. Nap time must occur in the main playroom area while the mold is being addressed.

    Observation. Attendance records were unavailable for atleast one year. Licensee stated they may have misplaced them.

    Corrective action. Attendance must be taken daily for every child that attends, noting arrival and departure times and if they are away.
