- A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (a) suitable for the age and development of the children.
Observation. Children were playing in the parking lot on a climbing structure that had no resilient surfacing and was not age appropriate for all children enrolled.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure outdoor play is limited to the playground and park. Additionally, please ensure the climbing structure is only used by children 3+ years old.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. (a) Carpet edges in Rm 1 are lifting around the edges posing a tripping hazard (b) Vent in the nap room, for Rm 2, has fallen off the wall exposing drywall. A nail is sticking out of the vent. (c) Adult electric scooter was accessible to children in Rm 4 (d) Children's nap cots along with bedding are placed in the accessible bathroom, risk of spreading germs. (e) Couch in Rm 2 is stained and dirty (f) Child toilet seat in Rm 2 dirty
Corrective action. Licensee will address all noted observations.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Manager name was not posted
Corrective action. Licensee identified herself as the manager on her certificate posted in the program space.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation. 9 children's files were reviewed of which the following was missing: 1 file missing the name and phone number of a medical practitioner 1 file missing the start date 1 file is missing the sex
Corrective action. Licensee will review files and follow up with families to ensure they are complete
19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c)

- A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (c) the resources to be made available to the child requiring extra support by the licensee, including (ii) any modification to the program of activities necessary to enable the child to participate in or benefit from the program.
Observation. A child who required actions and modifications to the program activities, did not have a care plan.
Corrective action. Manager will provide a written plan to licensing on how they will come into compliance.
19240 - CCLR s.58(1)(c)(ii) - A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.
Observation. Staff were not following the facility's sickness policy when they allowed a symptomatic child to return to child care the next day.
Corrective action. Manager will provide a plan to licensing on how they will come into compliance.

- Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. There were more than two children younger than 36 months in a single Group Child Care (30 months to school age).
Corrective action. Manager will provide a written response on how they will come into compliance
14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. Staff to child ratio was not maintained.
Corrective action. Manager will provide a written staffing plan to licensing.
14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee is satisfied, based on the information available to the licensee under subsection (1) and the licensee's or, in the case of an employee who is not the manager, the manager's own observations on meeting the person, that the person (c) has the training and experience and demonstrates the skills necessary to carry out the duties assigned to the manager or employee.
Observation. Staff working in the Group Child Care (under 36 months) program do not have the appropriate qualifications.
Corrective action. The manager will provide a written plan indicating how they will come into compliance.
12120 - CCLR s.19(2)(c) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)
Observation. All staff files were missing a validation.
Corrective action. Manager will validate all certificates, print out the validation and put in staff files.
