  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; -carpet in one of the play room has dirt and debris on it - the walls and light switches throughout the facility are dirty and have visible stains on them. - towel holder in the bathroom is broken - outdoor toys are dirty

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. Licensing observed deflated balls in the outdoor play area.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed mushrooms growing throughout the outdoor play area. Licensing discussed having a system to check the outdoor area for hazards.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - Two plastic slides in the outdoor play area that don't have sufficient fall zone space. One slide is close to the metal fence and concrete bottom while the other slide is close to the wooden railing. - an unlocked door, in the nap room, that leads to the separate upper area of the facility. Potential for a child leave the facility. - a window, in the main play area at the children's level that is on the second floor. Potential for a child to open the window, fall and injure themselves.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • OR SUPERVISION

    Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

    Observation. Upon a review of the attendance records for September 2025, Licensing observed that there were three days that there were 4 children under the age of 3 years old. Licensing provided education and reviewed Schedule E with the Manager to ensure that there are no more then 3 children younger then 36 months old in attendance .

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is a trampoline outside however, no policy on guiding staff on the care and supervision of children while on the trampoline.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Upon a review of the attendance records for September 2025, Licensing observed that children are not identified as absent. Licensing reviewed and provided clarification on this section of the regulation with the Manager.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

    Observation. Upon a review of two staff records, Licensing observed that references were not obtained for one staff. Licensing discussed what would meet the intent of this regulation.
