- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. A table was blocking one door and a garbage bin with emergency supplies blocking another door. Both of these doors are emergency exits and to be used in an emergency event.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children; - unlocked bathroom cupboard with cleaning solution bottles - unlocked bathroom drawer with a big sanitizer bottle - unlocked closet with cleaning supplies and equipment - bleach and water bottle sitting on the counter in the GCC (30 months to SA) program - bags in an unlocked bathroom cupboard in the GCC (under 36 months). Suffocation hazard. - unlocked drawer with staplers, staple removers and liquid white out - unlocked drawer with metal sticks and other handy tools in it - a light with the cord hanging in the GCC (under 36 months) naproom. Potential strangulation hazard. The Manager moved it out of children's reach.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the GCC (under 36 months program; - the fridge temperature was measured at -2 degrees Celsius - a broken gate sitting on the counter with screws stick out of it

11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - a broken toilet in the GCC (30 months to SA) bathroom - flooring has chipped, faded and sunken in several areas - walls have holes and paint is chipped throughout the facility

11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. Several cubbies in the GCC (30 months to SA) program not secured.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. The bedding are touching one another in the GCC (under 36 months) nap room. Potential spreading of germs.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. The Manager's name was not posted anywhere within the community care facility.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - LICENSING
Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9.
Observation. Licensing had approved a plan regarding a portable sink in the GCC (under 36 months). However, the facility is not adhering to the plan submitted to Licensing by not utilizing the portable sink. The staff and Manager are not familiar on how to use the portable sink and unsure when the water bottle under the sink was last placed there.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
10010 - CCLR s.10(1) - NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
A licensee must ensure that children are not (c) left unsupervised while consuming food or drink. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed five children eating their snack and drinking fluids unsupervised for a couple of minutes.
Corrective action. The staff came back into the classroom once Licensing discussed the importance of ensuring that children are never left unsupervised when eating.
17100 - CCLR s.48(4)(c) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. There is insufficient food in the emergency bin.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (k) the date on which the child stops attending the community care facility.
Observation. A child no longer attends the facility however, the date that the child stopped attending has not been recorded.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
19180 - CCLR s.57(2)(k) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. Upon a random review of four children's records, Licensing observed that two children's date of enrolment was not recorded.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Upon a review of four staff records, Licensing observed that references were not obtained for three staff.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - STAFFING
Despite this section, during the half hour before a care program begins and the half hour after a care program ends, a licensee may permit children who would otherwise be grouped in different care programs, and who are arriving at or leaving the community care facility, to be grouped together and supervised other than as required under Schedule E if (a) the care program is described as Multi-Age Child Care, Group Child Care (Under 36 Months), Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age).
Observation. Licensing observed the GCC (under 36 months) children walk through the GCC (30 months to SA) program to go into the outdoor playground and then walk through again to come back inside into their program.
Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
