- A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Children were allowed to play in a room that could be locked from the outside.
Corrective action. Corrective action plan required.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.
Observation. Staff were not aware that a child had been left alone in a locked room.
Corrective action. Corrective action plan required.
14060 - CCLR s.39(1) - A licensee, other than a licensee providing a care program described as Occasional Child Care, must provide each child with daily outdoor play periods unless weather conditions would make it unreasonable to do so. (4) Despite subsection (1), a licensee who provides a care program described as Occasional Child Care need not provide a program of outdoor activities. (5) Despite subsection (3), that subsection applies to a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding only if the program provides care for 3.5 hours or more each day.
Observation. On a day in December, several children remained indoors during an outdoor play period.
Corrective action. Corrective action plan required.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed that several walls within the play space were drawn on and had the paint picked off. Manager said that she is planning to repaint the facility.
Corrective action. Please provide a corrective action plan to licensing as to when this will be completed.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. Licensing observed a new play structure installed in the outdoor play space. This structure is seven foot tall and does not have resilient surfacing below. Further discussed to not use until this has been added.
Corrective action. DLSoP for safe play space will be provided by email for recommended depth of resilient surfacing. Please provide a corrective action plan to licensing as to when this will be completed.
11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation. Licnesing observed that the licence displayed was a photocopy (further discussed) and the manager name was not posted.
Corrective action. Please ensure the original CCFL and manager name is posted.
10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - LICENSING
Licensees must not make any structural change to a community care facility unless the licensee first (a) submits plans for the change to a medical health officer.
Observation. The Licensee failed to inform Licensing of the addition of a large play structure in the outdoor play space which poses a risk of injury to children.
Corrective action. Please ensure all future additions or structural changes are communicated to Licensing.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During a walk through of the outdoor space the following was noted: - Gate leading to main road was left unlatched and open - Black matting tiles on top of concrete pad are not attached, therefore causing a trip or slip hazard
Corrective action. Manager states that reminders will be given to parents and a sign will be installed as a reminder to keep gate closed at all times daycare is in operation
