- If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation. A child was not administered medications as required for 4 months.
Corrective action. Licensee stated staff will conduct weekly meetings to review medications.
16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. Two school age children were attending the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) program.
Corrective action. School age children will no longer be attending the Group Child Care (30 Months to School) program

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. LO observed one unstable shelving unit.
Corrective action. Licensee to ensure the unit is secured.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - MEDICATION
A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (b) the nature of the child's medication is such that, without immediate access to the medication by the child, the child's health will be significantly at risk.
Observation. Emergency medication is not immediately accessible by the staff or child. Child was in attendance at the time of inspection.
Corrective action. Licensee to ensure emergency medication is accessible.
16040 - CCLR s.53(2)(b) - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation. LO reviewed two medications which were not labelled and multiple medical consent forms which were missing emergency information.
16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. LO observed eight children, enrolled in a different facility and service type, present in the Group Child Care (30 months to School Age) program. Staff confirmed these children had come from a different facility.
Corrective action. Licensee to ensure that children attending a community care facility are divided into groups that are permitted in Schedule E.
14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (c) produce records, on demand, to the medical health officer.
Observation. Staff were unable to produce staff or children's records upon request. Staff stated the Manager was away on vacation.
Corrective action. Licensee to ensure records are available upon request.
19340 - CCLR s.59(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. No care plan made available for two children requiring extra support.
Corrective action. Licensee to develop care plans in consultation with families.
