• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Fridge temperature is above 4 degrees Celsius

  Corrective action. Staff said that they will adjust the temperature to ensure that it is between 0 - 4 degree Celsius

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.

  Observation. Emergency exit is locked from the daycare side. The other door that can lead to the emergency exit from the play room is blocked by two stacks of high chairs

  Corrective action. Staff said that they will ensure that the emergency exit is unlocked during operation hours, and nothing is blocking the second door that also led to the emergency exit.

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. After reviewing staff schedule, it appears that there is no Infant and Toddler Educator to open or close the program.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff to child ratio is maintained at all times.

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

  Observation. A staff file is not available at the facility

  Corrective action. Director will ensure the staff file is available at the facility

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. A total of five staff files were reviewed, and two of the files were missing certificate validation

  Corrective action. Ensure staff certificates were validated through ECE Registry
