  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Beds and bedding in the nap room were touching each other.

  Corrective action. To mitigate the risk of infection, the manager will make sure the beds do not touch each other.

  A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

  Observation. Files for two children and a care plan for one child was not available during this inspection.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure that all children's files and care plans are available.

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. Although the staff was able to describe actions needed, a care plan did not include the course of action for child requiring additional support.

  Corrective action. The manger will ensure care plans have a written course of action for each child as required.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.   Observation. One staff did not have validated ECE certificate

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure staff have proof of ECE certificates being validated.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. A panel on a baseboard heater in the nap room is being held in place wiht duct tape.

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure that the panel is appropriately secured to the baseboard heater.

  Observation. Information for an emergency contact was not available for one child.

  Corrective action. The manager will obtain information for emergency contacts for the child.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 2 volunteer's files and 1 file was missing evidence of immunization status. A discussion occurred about creating a system to ensure volunteer's documentation contain the required information.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that volunteer files contain evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs

  Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Two volunteers have continued to be present at the facility without the results of a criminal record check being obtained. The licensee said she thought the volunteers could be at the facility even though the results had not been received, they had applied for a criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Volunteers must have the results of a valid criminal record check before they are present at the facility.

  Observation. A criminal record check was not obtained for two volunteers. One volunteer had a copy of a criminal record check although it had not been obtained through the sharing program of the CRRA. The manager said both volunteers have applied for their criminal record checks.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all volunteers have a valid criminal record check before they are present at the facility.
