- MEDICATION
A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (b) the nature of the child's medication is such that, without immediate access to the medication by the child, the child's health will be significantly at risk.
Observation. Emergency medication is not immediately accessible by the staff or child.
Corrective action. Manager will obtain medication for child according to care plan.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that a child's emergency medication (epi-pen) is kept in their backpack in their cubby and accessible o all children in care.
Corrective action. The Manager moved the child's backpack into the office and inaccessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES
A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.
Observation. The children are provided snacks however, parents are not informed about what their child(ren) ate at the community care facility. Discussion had on the intent of this legislation. Suggestions provided on how parents can be informed.
Corrective action. The Manager will make available to parents information on the food and drink their child had.

- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Snack of the day is passed out to children as they enter the program, the majority of the children who arrived at the facility engaged in either the snack provided or their leftover lunches without washing their hands prior to eating..
Corrective action. The manager stated that they will move the snack table to the back of the facility adjacent from the washrooms and hand washing sink, in order to monitor hand washing. This was also written in the communication book and will take effect tomorrow.
