    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. A couch in one of the programs was damaged resulting in-effective cleaning.

    Corrective action. Ensure furniture and equipment is clean and in good repair. This equipment was corrected at the time of the inspection.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of the inspection some products were assessable and being used in the facility that could pose a potential hazard at the facility.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all time. All products were removed at the time of the inspection.

    Observation. One staff working in the program at the time of the inspection did not have the ECE Certificate posted within the facility.

    Corrective action. Ensure all qualified educators certificates are posted in a prominent place.

    Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Group CC (30 mo - SA) -There were more than 2 children younger than 36 months old in a single group.

    Corrective action. Ensure the group size and age requirements is maintained at all times. An exemption application was completed and shared with the LO at the time of the inspection to correct this item.

    Observation. Fire drill practice was missed for one month.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed: -Febreeze on a children's handwashing sink. -Bleach bottles under the sink in 2 classrooms - one bottle undiluted, one spray bottle diluted.

    Corrective action. Ensure all hazardous items are inaccessible.

    Observation. Licensing observed the vinyl on the couch was ripped exposing underlay which is un sanitizable.

    Corrective action. Ensure equipment is in good repair.

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The facility fire drill records were reviewed. Three recent months were communicated to be conducted by not documented. The manager corrected this item on the day of the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure staff practice implementing monthly fire drills which includes documenting these practices.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Cleaning supplies stored in an unlocked cupboard in the kitchen was assessable to the children in care. LO discussed this practice with the Licensee during the inspection who immediately corrected it.
