Observation. Cleaning supplies and personal grooming items accessible to children in the washroom cabinet. There is lock on it but was not on at the time of inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure that hazardous items are not accessible to children at any time during child care.

Observation. Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually
Corrective action. Please ensure emergency plan and procedures are valid and fire extinguisher is serviced before the expiry date.

Corrective action. Ensure all individuals over the age of 12 ordinarily present have a valid criminal record check.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Cleaning supplies are stored in lower cabinets in the kitchen and children's washroom. There are safety locks on these cupboards but the locks are not used making these items accessible to children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to cleaning products.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation. The water temperature exceeded 49 degrees Celsius.
Corrective action. Ensure water accessible to children is heated to no more then 49 degrees Celsius.
11230 - CCLR s.47 - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (b) a wash basin.
Observation. Diaper changing is currently being done on the kitchen floor next to where children eat snack/lunch.
Corrective action. Ensure to provide an appropriate surface for diaper changing outside of the food preparation area and located next to a wash basin.
15020 - CCLR s.14(4)(b) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. There was no documentation of fire or emergency drills available for review.
Corrective action. Ensure to conduct and record emergency drills.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Licensing reviewed four children's files. One did not include the name and telephone number of the child's medical practitioner.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's files are complete.

In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. Records are stored in various locations and were difficult to locate when requested.
Corrective action. Keep records in a single location.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The fence on the east side of the outdoor play space is beginning to rot and many boards have become loose. Two panels are missing boards and the Licensee has stacked chairs to block one of these sections off from the children in care and a piece of wire mesh has been added over the second panel. The fencing needs to be replaced to ensure the safety of the children when using the outdoor play space.
Corrective action. Ensure all areas of the facility are in good repair at all times.
