  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

    Observation. Licensing was unable to review the Manager's file as it was not available on site. Licensing provided education on the importance of ensuring that all staff files are at the facility for Licensing to review.

    Corrective action. Manger will have the file accessible and on site.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    Despite subsection (2)(a) and (d), a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding must do all of the following: (a) if applicable, record that a child does not have a medical insurance plan number or medical practioner.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed eight children's files, four of these files did not indicate that the child did not have a medical practitioner.

    Corrective action. Manager will ensure moving forward to record the required information.

    Observation. The facility has not appointed nor informed Licensing of a new Manager for the community care facility.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the minor incident log book is not maintained. Upon speaking with the staff, Licensed learned that the staff were unaware that minor incidents were to be recorded in the book and that only major incidents were to be recorded in the book. Licensing provided education on the intent of this regulation.

    Corrective action. The staff will ensure that, moving forward, all minor incidents will be recorded in the book.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    Observation. Upon a random review of two children's records, Licensing observed that a child did not have a medical practitioner's information and it record stating that the child does not have a doctor. Licensing had a discussion with the staff about what would meet the intent of this regulation.

    Corrective action. The staff will speak to the parent and record the information in the child's records.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. All 3 staff that work in the program do not have criminal record checks from Victoria; they have police checks. The staff stated they have applied for the checks from Victoria and are awaiting them.

    Corrective action. Ensure all staff have valid criminal record checks on file from the criminal records review board in Victoria. Until these checks have been obtained these staff cannot be alone with the children.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Lysol wipes, disinfectant wipes and large bottles of soap were accessible to children.

    Corrective action. Ensure any cleaning supplies or other substances not intended for use by the children are inaccessible to the children at all times.
