  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Of the four staff files inspected, one did not contain a criminal record check which was obtained by the Licensee.

  Corrective action. Staff said that a CRC has been applied for, however, clearance has not been received.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that the fire extinguisher would be serviced at the earliest possible date.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files. A Criminal Record Check on file is not site specific for one of these individuals.

  Corrective action. The Manger stated that the staff files would be complete by the end of next week.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files. Immunization status was not obtained for one of these employees.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that staff files would be complete by the end of next week.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files. Two of these early childhood educator licenses have not been verified by the early childhood educator registry.

  Corrective action. The Manager stated that all staff files would be complete by the end of next week.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Spray bottles for soap and bleach and water solution were not labelled, discussion about ensuring that bottles indicate their contents.

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address this contravention on or before July 22, 2204

• OR SUPERVISION

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. Earlier today, prior to inspection, 3 children under the age of 3 years of age were in care for 2 hours due to a child coming for gradual entry. .

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address this contravention noted above on or before July 16, 2024

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. A child attended the daycare for gradual entry was not signed in and out within the attendance. Discussion with staff about attendance.

  Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before July 22, 2024
