    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following were observed in the outdoor play yard during inspection: - Rusty bike -Broken Tricycle -Outdoor toys and patio need to be washroom. Paint on the patio railing is peeling. - Washroom sink was not draining adequately. -Closet door, that is in front of washroom, need to be secured from finger pinching.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that facility is clean and in good repair.

    Observation. Upon arrival, Licensing observed that children was playing in the front yard and two children were running on the street. This was previously discussed with the Licensee to not to use front driveway for playing.

    Observation. The following were observed during inspection today; Dog food accessible to children on the floor. Laundry room supplies accessible to children A bowl of small rocks on the table accessible to children. Discussed the potential hazard of children putting the small rocks in their mouth. A computer charging cord was loosely lying on the floor.

    Corrective action. Please provide a healthy and safe environment to all children in care.

    Observation. There were 3 toilet top seats put beside the toilet that children can touch while using the toilet seat and one was lying on the bathroom counter.One small potty was observed in the hallway.

    Corrective action. Please ensure health and hygiene practice while providing care to children.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. There is an excess of toys, equipment, and household objects throughout the facility. The table where children eat, the highchairs, the diaper change pad, counter space in the kitchen and playroom, the washroom floor, etc. all have an excess of household and daycare items on them making it difficult to ensure adequate cleaning.

    Corrective action. Provide a healthy and safe environment at all times by de-cluttering the space to ensure adequate cleaning.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed indoors: -There is garbage scattered around the facility including used paper towel products, plastic bags, etc. -There is an excess of toys, equipment, and household objects throughout the facility. The table where children eat is almost entirely covered with toys, plants, etc. The kitchen counters and diaper change table are overflowing with items. The children's washroom has excess equipment in it leaving no room to walk. Due to the amount of items in the space the Licensee had difficulty locating requested documents.

    Corrective action. The Licensee must ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times. The Licensee must de-clutter/organize the space to ensure adequate cleaning can take place and to ensure that required documents are easily accessible.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed indoors: -There is a potty located in the entrance that has urine in it. Licensing discussed the importance of the potty being located in the washroom next to a wash basin as well as the importance of quickly disposing the contents. -In the washroom there was garbage (used paper towels) scattered on the counter and floor. The following was observed outdoors: -In the outdoor play area there is a very large pile of toys and equipment. There is garbage (old gardening supplies, empty beverage containers, etc.) mixed in the pile.

    Corrective action. Ensure a safe and healthy environment is provided at all times.

    Observation. The cleaning supplies stored in the cupboard in the laundry room cupboard were accessible to the children as the laundry room door was propped open with a piece of furniture. There were also cleaning supplies stored on the bottom shelves of the change table located directly outside of the washroom.

    Corrective action. Ensure that children do not have access to any hazardous substances.

    Observation. -There is a kiddie pool full of water in the outdoor play space where children play daily. The water appears to have been sitting for some time as it has not rained in the past few days and it appears dirty. This must be emptied immediately as the water poses a drowning risk for children in care as well as standing water could be a breeding ground for bacteria. -There is garbage scattered around the outdoor play area (ie. a used disposable glove, dirty rag hanging on a piece of children's equipment). -There is a piece of furniture partially blocking the exit door from the nap room.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    Observation. The facility has not conducted a fire drill since the facility opened. Although the facility's emergency response policy indicates that fire drills will be conducted monthly, the Licensee explained that fire drills have not been conducted due to the ages of the children currently enrolled.

    Corrective action. Conduct and record fire drills at least once each month.
