- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - The fridge temperature was measured at 6.6 degrees Celsius. - One shelf in the main play area that is not secured. Potential to fall on a child and injure them.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following that are accessible to children in care; - a box of worm bait on a table in the outdoor play area. - a box of cleaning solution sponges on a shelf in the outdoor play area - fiberglass and other wood pieces and branches along the side of the shed - three adult scissors in unlocked kitchen drawers. The Licensee moved the scissors out of children's reach. - a diaper rash cream on plastic shelf in the bathroom
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. Licensing observed that there were no record of the fire drills being practiced for the months of March, April and June 2025. The Licensee was not sure if a fire drill was implemented for these months.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following accessible to children; - several sharp knives in an unlocked kitchen drawer -2 jars of cream in the nap room with medicinal ingredients in it.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted by the Licensee on how this contravention will be addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed a rusted tricycle in the outdoor play area.
Corrective action. The Licensee will remove the tricycle.
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed that the jacuzzi outside was running and unlocked. Discussed having a system in place to check for hazards prior to the program opening.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted by the Licensee on how this contravention will be addressed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed mats, in the nap room, set up beside one another with the bedding touching each other. Potential for cross contamination and spreading of germs.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted by the Licensee on how this contravention will be addressed.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. Licensing observed that there is a child in care that requires medication due to health reasons. However, the medication was not readily accessible. The Licensee said that the parents forget to put it in the child's bag at times. Discussed having a system to ensure that the parents provide the medication everyday.
Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure that the child's medication is in her backpack every morning.
16020 - CCLR s.53(1)(b)

- RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. The care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent.
Corrective action. Please ensure care plans is reviewed annually and notation is provided in order to confirm that it was reviewed yearly.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. There was no record to indicate that Fire Drills and Emergency Drill has been carried out for the last few months of 2021 or during 2022. Licensee advised that the drill is carried out but has not been documented.
Corrective action. Please ensure record of fire drill and emergency drill are recorded in order for Licensing to confirm compliance.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 4 Children's files were reviewed, 1 child was missing emergency contact.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete.

- STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.Multiple family members within the home have expired criminal record checks. Daycare is separate from the main living area of the home and family members generally are not home or do not spend time within the daycare.
Corrective action. Please ensure those who are over the age of 12 who live within the home have a valid criminal record check.
