A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. Licensing observed a water table, in the group child care (30 months to SA) playground, broken at the top.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed
11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following that are not secured; - a tall shelf in the group child care ( under 36 months) program - a tall drawer shelf and TV in the group child care ( 30 months to SA) program
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Upon a random review of four children's records, Licensing observed that the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner was not obtained for one child. Licensing had a discussion with the Manager on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Upon a review of one child's care plane Licensing observed that the care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent. Licensing reviewed and provided education on this regulation to the staff and Manager.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed
19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Upon a random review of three staff records, Licensing observed that references were not obtained for one staff. Licensing had a discussion with the Manager on what would meet the intent of this regulation.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed
12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Upon a random review of three staff records, Licensing observed that criminal record check (CRC) for one staff was addressed to another facility and therefore, not obtained.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Upon a random review of three staff records, Licensing observed that immunization status was not obtained for two staff.
Corrective action. The Manager will provide the immunization forms to the staff to complete.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as Family Child Care or Child-minding, must have for each child at least 3.7 m2 of usable floor area in the community care facility, excluding (a) hallways, (b) built in storage areas, (c) bathrooms, and (d) fixed appliances, or, if not fixed, large appliances that are not normally moved from one area to another.
Observation. In the group child care (30 months to SA) room, Licensing observed that there are two areas that are being used for storage space that is taking away from the 3.7 meter square of useable space per child. One area is at the front where sleeping mats and other items are stored and another area along the side of the middle of the room where a metal cabinet and other items are stored. Licensing explained the importance of ensuring that useable space is not taken away from children and other storage options,
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing by the Manager on how this contravention will be addressed.
11050 - CCLR s.14(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following; - In one of the bathrooms of the group child care (30 months to SA) program, a tall metal ladder resting against the wall beside the toilet. Potential to fall on a child and injure them. - In the group child care (under 36 months) playground, several carpets curled up in several areas. Potential tripping hazard.
Corrective action. A written response to be provided to Licensing by the Manager on how this contravention will be addressed.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following accessible to children in care; - Several knives in an unlocked drawer in the group chid care (30 months to SA) program. - a container of disinfectant wipes on a table. A staff moved it out of children's reach. - In one of the bathrooms, in the group child care (under 36 months), in an unlocked cupboard under the sink with bleach package and other items in an unlocked plastic drawer with chemical ingredients in them.
Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing, by the Manager on how this contravention will be addressed.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Upon a random review of four staff records, Licensing observed that references were not obtained for two staff. Licensing explained what would meet the intent of this regulation.
