    Observation. There is no covered garbage can within the bathroom for soiled diapers.

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. There is a wood board installed within a tunnel which has started to decay and has lots of rough edges.

    Corrective action. Manager stated that they have submitted a ticket to the landlord to have this fixed, however, it has not yet been completed. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address the contravention noted above on or before August 22, 2024.

    A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.

    Observation. Food (snacks and lunch) is provided by the facility. Though staff may verbally provide some detail around food provided by the facility during the day at pick up. The facility does not make this information readily available for parents to see what was offered.

    Corrective action. Please provide a written response to indicate how you will address this contravention noted above on or before August 22, 2024

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

    Observation. Upon a random review of three children's records, Licensing observed one child's record missing their immunization status. Licensing explained what would meet the intent of this regulation.

    Corrective action. Ensure that children's records are complete.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Upon a review of the attendance records for the month of July 2023, Licensing observed 8 days that children were not identified as absent. Licensing explained that children need to be identified as absent if not in care.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the attendance record is accurate on a daily basis.

    In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - No staff records or a checklist available at the community care facility. - At the head office staff records were partly stored on a shared site on the computer and partly in files. Licensing discussed keeping complete staff records in a single place for easy and quick access. Licensing provided some suggestion such as; a staff checklist including expiry dates for each document or on a shared site that is easily accessible for Licensing to review.

    Corrective action. Ensure that all records referred in sections 56 to 58 are stored in a single place at the community care facility.

    In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (c) produce records, on demand, to the medical health officer.

    Observation. Licensing was unable to review all 7 staff's references as they were unable to be produced to Licensing. Licensing was informed that the references are emailed but not printed out. Licensing provided education on ensuring that all required documents listed in section 19 are available for Licensing to review.

    Corrective action. Ensure that all staff records are available for Licensing to review.
