  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - The wood balancing beam structures, in the outdoor play area, were slippery due to being wet. - There was a hole at the bottom of the metal fence, in the outdoor play area, which is an entrapment hazard. Licensing discussed the measurements for entrapment. - a blind cord hanging in the indoor play area. Potential strangulation hazard.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - the wood around the outdoor play fencing has splintered in several areas - the egg chair cover has stains on it. The Manager said that they had cleaned it a while ago but may have gotten dirty again. - foam climbing structures are dirty with stains on them and ripped at the corners -some of the small circle time mats have ripped - wooden step stool paint has chipped

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. Licensing observed that there is not sufficient emergency supplies for the children or staff for 72 hours. The children bring their own little emergency packs which contained only one food item.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

    Observation. Upon a random review of five children's records, Licensing observed that the telephone number for a medical practitioner was not obtained for one child.

    Corrective action. A corrective action plan to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

    Observation. Upon a review of the fire drills, Licensing observed that a fire drill was not practiced for September 2024 and June 2025.

    A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

    Observation. Upon a review of the two staff's first aid certificate, Licensing determined that the first aid training received and acquired does not meet the requirements of Schedule C. Licensing reviewed and provided education on Schedule C.

    Observation. Licensing was unable to confirm whether an emergency drill was carried out within the last year.

    Corrective action. Please ensure emergency drills are documented in order to confirm compliance.

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

    Observation. When inquiring about the emergency drill, Manager was not familiar with this drill and did not know where the designated alternate emergency location was located.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff are familiar with and trained in implementing the emergency plan.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following items were noted during today's inspection: -Bottom of sand table within the Preschool room has started to peel and does not allow for an easy to clean surface. -Piece of metal is sticking out from the logs within the outdoor play space. Nail sticking out from a natural within the Preschool room. -Personal items were accessible to the children in care.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment.
