    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A windex cleaning solution bottle on the counter accessible to children.

    Corrective action. The Manager moved the bottle out of children's reach.

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing measured the water, in the kitchen sink, temperature at 52 degrees Celsius and going up.

    Observation. A child has medications identified in their care plan to be administered in the event of a reaction. There are two prescribed emergency medications available in the first aid kit however, neither of the medications identify who they are for (don't have the child's name or dosage).

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following; - The paper towel dispenser handle is broken. The Manager is looking to find a new one. - the diaper change mat is ripped. Discussed having a diaper change mat with some cushioning.

    Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the outdoor play area; - Two metal ladders, a wooden frame, couple of adult shovels and a big metal bumper. - black tarp exposed in the woodchip area. Potential tripping hazard. - A tall plastic shelf with toys in it that is not secured. Potential to fall on a child.

    Corrective action. A written response to be submitted to Licensing on how this contravention has been addressed.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the Manager's name is not posted anywhere within the community care facility.

    A licensee must (a) ensure that a community care facility has (i) emergency exits that meet the requirements of the BC Building Code, and (ii) a fire drill system that is approved as definedby section 31 of the Fire Services Act.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher was not serviced within a year. The fire extinguisher was to be serviced on or before February 8, 2025.

    Observation. Care plans on site do not have any notation to indicate that they were reviewed by the parent or created with the parent. Discussed ensuring there is enough detail within the care plan so that a sub staff can follow the plan if needed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure care plans are complete with notations to confirm the plans have been created with the parent and reviewed yearly.
