- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Locked cabinet containing cleaning products was unlocked at the time of inspection and is accessible to children.
Corrective action. Manager will ensure cabinet is locked at all times
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. - Three tall shelves were not secured and is a tipping hazard - Standing water pooled in sandbox and play equipment in the outdoor play area
Corrective action. Manager will secure the shelves and do daily checks in the outdoor play area to remove stanidng water
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. A play equipment in the outdoor play space was broken and held together by duct tape.
Corrective action. Manager will remove the broken play equipment
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Bleach solution is not changed daily which makes it ineffective for sanitizing
Corrective action. Manager will change the bleach solution daily
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. One childrens file was missing their MSP number
Corrective action. Manager to receive MSP number from parent
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. One staff file was missing their CRC and three staff had non-site specific CRC's
Corrective action. CRC's are awaiting approval from the ministry

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. A change pad used as equipment for changing children's diapers in one of the classrooms was torn resulting in ineffective cleaning of the pad. The LO reviewed this item in depth with the staff at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure equipment is easy to clean.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. The outdoor play area gate latch has been re-attached however the gate was not closed at the time of the inspection posing a risk to the children playing outdoors at the time. The gate was reviewed for suitability and discovered to require significant pressure to close effectively. The LO reviewed this item in depth with the manager and has requested a Health and Safety Plan to be put in place while the gate is being fixed.
Corrective action. Ensure the outdoor play area is enclosed to ensure children are free from harm at all times.

A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation. The outdoor playarea has a broken gate latch. This poses a risk for the children playing in the outdoor play area for the potential hazard of accessing the parking lot. The LO reviewed this item in depth with the Manager at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure the outdoor play area is enclosed to ensure children are free from harm at all times.

- LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One staff working in the program did not have her ECE certificate posted in the facility. LO reviewed this during the inspection and the staff corrected it prior to the LO departing.
Corrective action. Ensure all educators or assistants certificates are posted in the facility.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation. One staff working in the program recently renewed her ECE certificate. The new certificate however was not validated upon review of the staff file.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete including ECE Validation for new and renewed certificates.
