Observation. Licensing confirmed that a staff used an inappropriate verbal guidance with a child.

Corrective action. Management has conducted a follow up with all staff following the incident.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. Upon review of several children's records, one is missing a record of immunization status.

Corrective action. Please ensure all children's records are complete.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

Observation. Upon review of the staffing checklist, the staff records for one casual employee working today is unavailable for review.

Corrective action. Please ensure that staff records are complete and available for review.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. 2 of 10 children did not have a name or contact for medical practitioner and 1 of 10 children did not have an emergency contact

Corrective action. Ensure that each child has a record of medical practitioner and emergency contact

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. Care plans for more than 1 child was not reviewed annually with the parent or any person requested to by the parent or signed with a date of review.

Corrective action. Ensure that care plans are reviewed annually.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Corrective action. Ensure that each child has a record of medical insurance plan number

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. 2 employees who work in the program do not have evidence of criminal record check.

Corrective action. Ensure that each person employed has a criminal record check.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for 2 employees.

Corrective action. Ensure that immunization status is obtained

A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

Observation. The Manager has not been trained in the emergency plan on how to respond to an emergency. The emergency evacuation location is not know by the staff.

Corrective action. Ensure that all staff are trained in how to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. The program was observed toasting waffles during the inspection. The room fire extinguisher tag was expired posing a potential risk to the children in care.

Corrective action. Ensure the program can mitigate, respond and recover from any emergency with equipment that is not expired.

Observation. Two staff working in the program did not have evidence of staff files available at the time of the inspection.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete, current and assessable.
