- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Staff have been using only soap and water to clean and sanitize tables and equipment. A disinfectant product is available on site but only used for the occasional deep clean when needed. .
Corrective action. Sanitizing of tables and equipment is required after use to reduce cross contamination of germs.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Although attendance records are being recorded daily, not all information is accurately being recorded. Children who arrive before school are not signed out and are not resigned in after school.
Corrective action. Please ensure children are accurately signed in each day.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. Staff have yet to practice the annual evacuation drill, the last one was practiced in August 2022. Staff has recently inquired with management and the school in regards to the details of the evacuation plan and plans on conducting the drill during winter break.
Corrective action. Please ensure an annual evacuation drill is conducted by all staff.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. The fire drill documentation drill was not practiced in the month of October. This was not documented on the record sheet and confirmed by staff.
Corrective action. Please ensure a fire drill is practiced by all staff each month.

- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.
Observation. A review of the onsite policies and procedures (family handbook) indicates that there is not a specific washroom use/supervision policy in place for School Aged Children. During today's inspection, licensing discussed current practice that is occurring at the facility when children have to leave the classroom to use the washroom or wash their hands. Two children did leave the classroom together today, and were heard by licensing to be quite loud and away for 4-5 minutes, the next time these children left one child did obtain a small injury.
Corrective action. A policy will ensure children are safe and active supervision is in place.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the that the facility is having some storage challenges inside the shared classroom including the following; - Cubby area was overflowing with children's backpacks and jackets (some falling to the floor) this area was also used to storage boxes and a large bin, which takes away space to safely store children's belongings - Due to lack of useable counter space a toaster oven is stored on top of a mini fridge - There were large items stored in the classroom (that do not belong to the operator) which impede useable (safe) space
Corrective action. Please ensure you have adequate storage to safely store all items
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. During the inspection licensing observed a posted "drill" documentation record posted on the wall for the new calendar year.Staff reported that last years document was taken to head office (discussed requirement for keeping on site), staff later found last years documentation however it wasn't complete as there were missing months and no documentation of the emergency evacuation drill.
Corrective action. Please ensure both monthly fire drills and annual evacuation drills are conducted and recorded as required. Please conduct the annual drill prior to responding to the report.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. Licensing reviewed 2 out of 8 files. Licensing observed one child's date of enrollment was not documented. The staff was able to locate the start date at the main office, however section 59 (a) requires these records to be on site at the licensed facility.
Corrective action. Please ensure all enrollment dates are recorded on the child's file and is stored on site as required.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation. Photo's are kept on the back of emergency cards, licensing observed some cards to be without a photo. Discussion had about ensure photos or a digital image are available prior to the child being in care.
Corrective action. Please ensure each child enrolled has a photo on site which can be used to readily identify them in an emergency.
