Observation. Shade in the outdoor play area continues to be a concern. The playground is located in direct sunlight and lacks any permanent shade structures or natural shade from trees or nearby buildings. At the time of the visit, an umbrella-style shade device was in use; however, it did not provide sufficient protection from direct sun exposure. As the program operates during the summer months and provides care for infants and toddlers, the lack of adequate shade presents a potential health and safety risk related to prolonged sun exposure. Consideration should be given to installing permanent shade solutions to better protect children while outdoors.
