- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During inspection Licensing observed the following indoors: -Walls at children's height were showing signs of wear and tear with paint peeling off in several areas -Missing lower wooden slats on the bifold door in the toy room -Torn cushion on the black couch exposing the foam underneath, making sanitization difficult -In the main play area a small corner section of the ceiling was missing exposing the plumbing. Manager said ceiling was cut off due a plumbing leak that happened several years ago.
Corrective action. Manager said cushion will be repaired this week and other items will be addressed by the summer.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - STAFFING
A licensee must keep (b) in any other case, all criminal record check results and character references for the entire time that the subject of the criminal record check or character reference is ordinarily present on the premises.
Observation. One person living at this address,related to the manager, does not have valid criminal check.
Corrective action. The manager said that this individual is not present when children are at the daycare. The CRC application will be submitted this week, and Licensing will be notified once the results are received.

- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that children did not wash their hands before eating snack and pointed out this to the manager. The manager said that children always wash their hands before eating, but today was missed due to the change in the afternoon's routine due to the inspection. Manager immediately corrected this by asking children to wash their hands.
Corrective action. Please ensure children wash their hands before and after eating routines.

Observation. Upon review of the attendance records, there were a few days that a few children did not have a departure time recorded.
Corrective action. Please ensure attendance records are complete.
