Observation. Medication required in a child's care plan was past it's best before date.
Corrective action. Manager said family will be asked to provide a replacement medication that is not expired.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. In the infant and toddler classroom fire drill for the month of March was conducted but not documented.
Corrective action. Manager said fire drill record will be updated.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In the infant and toddler naproom the sleep mats were placed very close to each other and children blankets and sleep mats were touching each other. Staff corrected this during inspection.
Corrective action. The manager said that two mats for staff use will be removed from the naproom, freeing up more floor space to spread out children's mats so that theirbedding and mats do not touch each other.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Children's floor mat in the infant and toddler classroom was torn in several places with the edges were peeling off, exposing the foam underneath.
Corrective action. Manager said she is aware and will purchase a floor mat to replace the existing one; in the mean time she will be repair the tears and peeling edges.

Observation. Upon inspection, there was some mold forming at the back of the children's sink and the faucet was loose when touched.
Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair

A licensee must ensure that children are adequately supervised by qualified employees in sufficient numbers to meet the needs of each child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing knocked and called the facility numerous times before gaining access on site. After 10 minutes, Licensing entered the 30 mos to school age program where 3 staff were observed to be on their own mats under their own blankets and appeared to be sleeping.The staff from the Under 36 month program went over to them to inform them that Licensing was on site and they each quickly got to their feet.The Manager said one staff was on a break.
Corrective action. Please ensure staff are adequately supervising the children at all times while children are in care.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Upon review of the children's files, 1 file did not contain a medical number and 1 file did not contain the child's sex.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete.

Observation. Upon review of the children's files, 3 files were missing a medical practitioner name and phone number and 1 was missing an emergency contact.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Observation: Licensing observed: ·Empty Rubbermaid boxes were placed on their lids on top of a cupboard in the IT naproom. The items were unstable and may fall on the children. ·Sink in the IT nap room had utensils used for children which were placed in a basket for drying. Staff informed that these utensils were not sanitized.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. During inspection licensing observed: ·1 out of 2 playpens used for sleeping had one of its four upper rails visibly buckled as the lock was not fully locked and secured in place. Staff mentioned a child is currently using this playpen but stated that this playpen will not be used till the playpen upper rail is secured. ·Seven out of thirteen sleeping mats used in the Infant nap room had ripped edges exposing the foam underneath. ·Foam play mat used in the IT playroom was porous making and is not easy to clean
Corrective action. Please ensure that equipment and furniture available to children is sturdy, of safe construction easy to clean and free from hazards.
11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following in the IT and 3-5 programs: ·Exposed drywall is accessible to children in both programs. ·Walls in the IT playroom, IT nap room and 3-5 playroom are chipped in a number of places. This is repeat non -compliance and was noted on Routine Inspection #KFIH-BC2Q9Q
Corrective action. Please ensure that all areas of the facility are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.
Observation. During inspection in the 3-5 washroom licensing observed soiled pullups in an uncovered container.
Corrective action. Please ensure that a covered container for soiled pullups is available at all times.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. Care plan was not available for two children requiring emergency medication. Staff were not able to fully describe what actions were required for these two children
Corrective action. Please ensure there is a care plan written and in place for each child who requires extra support.
