In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (b) keep a record other than one referred to in paragraph (a) in a place from which it can be retrieved within a reasonable time, on request.

Observation. The Licensee was unable to produce last years record of the emergency evacuation drill. The Licensee advised that it was practiced and recorded.

Corrective action. The Licensee will create a system to store records.

Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. A minimum of two character references were not obtained for the volunteer.

Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain 2 records of character references.

Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (c) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for the volunteer.

Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain the immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed 2 staff files and there was no record of certificate validation.

Corrective action. Please ensure certificates are validated prior to employment.
