    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following will need to be addressed: > Torn sleeping mats from one of the under 36 months program and 30 months to school age program. > Torn diaper mat from one of the under 36 months program. > Torn toy bin from the 30 months to school age program.

    Corrective action. The Manager will inform staff to notify her when they've observed that equipment need to be repaired.

  • PROGRAM

    A licensee, other than a licensee providing a care program described as Occasional Child Care, must provide each child with daily outdoor play periods unless weather conditions would make it unreasonable to do so. (4) Despite subsection (1), a licensee who provides a care program described as Occasional Child Care need not provide a program of outdoor activities. (5) Despite subsection (3), that subsection applies to a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding only if the program provides care for 3.5 hours or more each day.

    Observation. Upon speaking with the Manager and staff, It was identified that children don't play outside daily. However, they go for daily neighbourhood walks (with infants in strollers).

    Corrective action. The Manager advised she will ensure that children are provided with daily periods of outdoor play. Discussions were held regarding the definition of weather permitting.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A DVD player on a raised shelf in the main play area with low hanging cords, accessible to children in care.The DVD player and cords were moved to be inaccessible while licensing was on site. - Fridge temperature not maintained between 0-4 degrees Celsius in two classrooms - Disinfecting wipes in the kitchen area accessible to children. The wipes were moved to be inaccessible while licensing was on site.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

    Corrective action. Ensure all educator and educator assistant certificates are verified using a system established and maintained by the early childhood registry.
