    Observation. Licensing was unable to observe the the facility license.

    Observation. The Licensee informed Licensing that there was no bleach water solution available to disinfect surfaces. Licensing observed a rug in the activity room positioned under the table with curling edges, which creates a tripping hazard.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. While not in non-incompliance, Licensing recommends to power wash all play structures located in the yard, to maintain cleanliness. Licensing observed landscaping fabric showing from the sandbox and creating uneven surface posing tripping hazards.

    Observation. Licensing observed that emergency supplies of water and food had expired in the year 2021.

    Observation. The fire extinguisher is due for re-inspection on May 17, 2024.

    Observation. The Licensee provided a book without any entries and informed Licensing that they have had no incidents thus far.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed all children's records and found that seven records were missing the medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

    Observation. There is no cover evident for the sandbox. There are several pieces of equipment beside the fence which could allow children to easily climb over the fence. There is a large quantity of dog feces in the backyard. There is a gap behind the shed near the sandbox that could potentially be an entrapment issue. There are several doors with restrictors on them that could not be shut completely creating a pinching hazard. There is a sliding door in the nap room that opens to a large storage closet, contents not suitable for children's use.

    Observation. There are several pieces of climbing equipment including a small swing on one area of the backyard. These pieces of equipment were very close together, close to the fence and the trees.

    Observation. The daily playground check had been ticked as complete for the day. However, there were several piles of dog poo on the grassy area where children would play. The bin of toys available to children was full of water.

    Materials and Equipment: Outdoor equipment is arranged in appropriate age groupings. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

    Observation. Licensing has been out to the program on a routine inspection and observed that the outdoor space and noted that there needs to be corrections made to come into compliance. Licensing observed that the play equipment needed to be removed or have more resilient material added to ensure that it was safe. There also needed to be changes made to the ground surfacing and enhancement of play materials. The sand box was broken and had no sand in it for the children, the ride toys all were dirty and appeared uninviting for the children and the outdoor space which is a large space is not meeting the the minimum requirements for Schedule G. Licensing supports the licensee in the application for emergency repair and replacement grant to make the needed repairs to this outdoor space.
