Observation. LO noted a music teacher employed by a company was scheduled to provide lessons at the facility. The teacher was not included in the staff-to-child ratio. The licensee had not obtained a Criminal Record Check (CRC) as required under CCLR Section 20. No documentation or file for the teacher was available on-site for licensing review.

Observation. The outdoor area had insufficient materials / loose parts / toys to support all of the children.

Observation. There are several corners on furniture where the corner cover has come off, exposing a sharp corner. There are area rugs with curling edges creating a tripping hazard. There are large cabinets in one classroom that house the emergency supplies, these cabinets are over 4' and do not appear to be fixed to the wall. They are heavy and would not be easily tipped but in an earthquake could cause serious harm should they fall. A discussion was had with the manager about possibly relocating the supplies to the outdoor shed thus eliminating the necessity of having the cupboards in the classroom. Due to the design of the classrooms, the activity volume can be elevated to the point of quite loud. This has been discussed with the manager and the suggestion of adding sound absorbing materials to the walls would be beneficial
