    Observation. One staff member was observed pulling on a child's arm while becoming involved in a "sharing" issue. This same staff member was then later observed, pulling and lifting a child under the arms when the child did not want to walk on their own to another area the staff wanted the child to go to.

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. The blind cords hang down and are accessible to children. There are shelves and a cupboard near the entrance side of the room that are not secure to the wall and are over 4' in height. Staff store their belongings , purses etc. within children's reach. In the washroom, the toilet cleaners are accessible to children.

    Observation. While conducting an inspection of the U-36 month programs, Licensing observed a 4 year old child running through the hallways being chased by an adult. The adult indicated that she was the BI for this child. Licensing asked both the BI and the staff in the classroom if there was a care plan and could Licensing please review it.

    Observation. The playground climber has loose parts and does not appear to be stable as it easily moves with pressure.

    Observation. Licensing observed that an updated EpiPen has been obtained by the guardian. The Manager informed Licensing that the child no longer has asthma, so the care plan is no longer required. The anaphylaxis care plan still needs to be reviewed, as it expired in 2023.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A tumbler with hot liquid without a lid within children's reach, posing a safety concern. This was corrected during the inspection. -Two blue mats located by the bookshelf area had rips exposing the foam, making them difficult to clean and sanitize.

    Observation. Licensing observed the fire extinguisher is due for service; the last service date was July 27, 2023.

    For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

    Observation. Licensing observed that one Asthmatic care plan and one Anaphylaxis care plan were missing a child's photograph. This was corrected during the inspection. Licensing observed the following: -Both care plans expired in 2023. -The Asthmatic care plan needs to be updated to reflect the correct expiration of the medication. -The Asthmatic care plan lacks clear instructions on administering the medication. The instruction written on the care plan states 'follow the educator's guide'. -The Anaphylaxis medication expired in November 2023.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed a sample of 12 children's records and found that one child is missing a photo. While not in non-compliance, Licensing recommends updating all children's photos on record to reflect their current age.
