    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Though the facility manager said the monthly fire drills were conducted with children for the month of June and September 2025, the drills were not recorded.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the monthly fire drills are recorded.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Upon observation and discussing with the facility manager, records of absent children are not available on the attendance sheet or the facility's online system for attendance.

    Corrective action. Ensure that absent children are recorded daily.

    Observation. One staff only had a copy of their certificate and first aid on file.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the staff's file is complete prior to starting work at the facility.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During inspection Licensing observed locks on two children gates leading to the shared kitchen area were missing.

    Corrective action. Manager said the management has already been contacted for lock replacement and in the meantime, the kitchen area will be secured by using childproof locks on all the kitchen appliances.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

    Observation. During inspection Licensing observed the 3-5 year old outdoor playarea was not fully enclosed as there was a large opening through which children can exit the play area. Manager said safety cones are used to block this opening but this was not done today. Safety cones were set up during inspection. In addition the automatic door button and the handle of an unlocked gate leading to the road were within children’s reach. Manager disabled the automatic function and said building manager will be contacted to secure the gate handle.

    Corrective action. Manager will provide Licensing a plan to ensure the outdoor area is fully enclosed when children are using it.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection licensing observed two children's emergency medication were within children reach during outdoor play. When Licensing pointed this out to the staff; they immediately moved the medications out of children’s reach.

    Corrective action. Manager said she will review with all staff how to properly store emergency medications during outdoor play to keep them out of children’s reach.
