Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One child with parents listed as emergency contacts. During the inspection, the manager obtained the contact information for an emergency contact that is neither parent.

    Corrective action. Please ensure an emergency contact is neither parent/or guardian.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Multiple paint chips were observed on the blue wall and turquoise doors (half door and bathroom doors).

    Corrective action. Please submit a plan to Licensing by the date below outling how the paint chips will be addressed.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. Expired criminal record check on file for one staff. As per the manager, she has applied for the criminal record check renewal for this staff and awaits the results.

    Corrective action. Once the valid criminal record check has been obtained, the manager will send Licensing a copy. In the meantine, this staff will not be left alone with children.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -dents and wear & tear on the walls and baseboards -chipping paint on walls -2 wooden floor planks that are lifting and no longer flush to the floor

    Corrective action. Please ensure that furniture, equipment and fixtures are in clean and in good repair.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In one of the bathrooms, Licensing observed plastic bags that were stored in a drawer that was accessible to children which may pose as a suffocation hazard.

    Corrective action. Manager immediately stored the plastic bags in a place that is not accessible to children.

    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. Licensing observed that an emergency evacuation drill had not been recorded for the year of 2022. As per the Manager who has 2 facilities on the same block, both locations practice the emergency evacuation drill together and the recording of the drill is documented in the other location.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the annual emergency evacuation is recorded for this location.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: - 2 drawers in the kitchen that was accessible to the children contained tools, pins, and adult knives. The Manager moved these objects to a cupboard not accessible to the children. - Cellphone charger wires were plugged in and dangling over the children's bed. Staff stated there is a speaker plugged in to the wires and used for nap time. Staff confirmed the wires are out of children's reach at nap time.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
