A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. 1 child missing doctor name and number. Walk-in clinic information is sufficient.

Corrective action. The licensee will follow up with the family to obtain this information.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. 1 staff missing validation from the ECE registry.

Corrective action. The licensee will validate the staff's certicate and place the validation in the staff's file.

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

Observation. The licensee has an expired first aid certificate. The licensee showed Licensing a receipt that the first aid renewal was conducted on August 10, 2025 and the licensee awaits a copy of her renewed first aid certificate.

Corrective action. The licensee will work on obtaining a copy of her renewed first aid certificate and will send this to Licensing. If the renewed first aid certificate is not obtained by Monday, then the licensee will have a staff work with her that has a valid first aid certficate to ensure that children have immediate access to an individual with valid first aid training.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Slide/climbing structure is not on resilient surfacing. Licensing and the Licensee reviewed appropriate resilient surfacing options.

Corrective action. September 16, 2024

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Indoors: mop bucket with water. Outdoors: 2 concrete slabs that are accessible to children and multiple medium-size rocks that can be easily picked up and thrown by a child.

Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous objects are not accessible to children.

A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).

Observation. 1 child present without a registration file. As per the Licensee, this is a new child and the forms were returned to the parents due to missing information.

Corrective action. Please ensure the child's registration is at the facility before they return to care.

A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

Observation. 1 child without documentation of consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance when the parents cannot be immediately reached.

Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete with all required information.
